For over three decades, the Back to the Bible Training College (BBTC) has been singularly focused on one powerful, continent-wide mission: Winning Africa for Jesus Christ.
Established in 1990 and strategically situated in the Valley of Mercy between Barberton and Kaapmuiden, BBTC is a unique training ground. We specialize in forging committed believers into effective, Christ-centered Missionary Pastors, equipped for ministry that transforms lives and communities across Africa.
Our Foundational Pillars
Our training is holistic, emphasizing a balanced ministry to the body, mind, and spirit. Every aspect of our curriculum and intentional community culture is built on three core pillars of preparation:
1. Christ-Centered Education
The Word of God is the supreme authority in all we do. We prioritize deep Bible Study, Prayer, and Preaching, ensuring every student is grounded in an unshakable theological foundation. As our Director, Prof. Shai Mulder, states: “Your Walk with God is more important than your work for God.” We teach not just what to believe, but how to live it.

2. Character & Strategic Leadership
A missionary’s effectiveness rests on their character. Our BBM Culture provides personal attention and care, focusing on:
Character Building: Training students to live a holy life and to trust God completely in all spheres.
Strategic Leadership: Equipping leaders to manage resources and pioneer movements, including instruction in entrepreneurship for sustainable mission efforts.
3. Hands-On Mobilisation
The classroom extends into the community immediately. Our students are mobilized through vital Co-curricular Activities that balance spiritual growth with practical outreach:
Community Ministries: Regular engagement in prison ministry, hospital visitation, old age homes, and outreach to local churches, farms, and schools.
Cultural & Physical Development: Participation in our renowned BBTC Choir (which has produced 13 CDs) and energy-burning sports like soccer and volleyball.
